Our Story
Founded in 2024 by Dr. Ryan Grell, a board-certified Anesthesiologist, the Kentucky Medical Marijuana Center was established to serve as Kentucky’s trusted leader in medical cannabis certification. Dr. Grell’s interest in the therapeutic benefits of medical cannabis began during his residency in Boston, where he witnessed the positive impact it had on patients’ wellbeing. As a member of the Board of Physicians and Advisors to Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Dr. Grell played a key role in shaping the state’s Medical Cannabis Program, providing expert recommendations to both the General Assembly and the Governor.
Kentucky Medical Marijuana Center
In the summer of 2025, leadership transitioned to Drs. Jeremy Haysley and Wayde Gilmore—also board-certified anesthesiologists. Drawing from their experience in managing acute and chronic pain in surgical settings, both have seen the devastating physical and mental effects of undermanaged pain and opioid dependence. Dr. Haysley's service in the United States Air Force also gave him insight into the effects of serious mental illnesses such as posttraumatic stress disorder. Their commitment to offering safer, evidence-based alternatives led them to further Dr. Grell’s mission. Through KYMMC, they've confirmed their belief in the benefits of medical cannabis and continue helping Kentuckians regain function, manage pain, and improve quality of life through access to medical cannabis.
