Our Story
Founded in 2024 by Dr. Ryan Grell, a board-certified anesthesiologist, the Kentucky Medical Marijuana Center was established to serve as Kentucky’s trusted leader in medical cannabis certification. Dr. Grell’s interest in the therapeutic benefits of medical cannabis began during his residency in Boston, where he witnessed the positive impact it had on patients’ wellbeing. As a member of the Board of Physicians and Advisors to Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Dr. Grell played a key role in shaping the state’s Medical Cannabis Program, providing expert recommendations to both the General Assembly and the Governor.
Kentucky Medical Marijuana Center
In the summer of 2025, ownership transitioned to Dr. Jeremy Haysley — also a board-certified anesthesiologist. Drawing from experience in managing acute and chronic pain in perioperative setting, Dr. Haysley has seen the devastating physical and mental effects of both under-managed pain and subsequent opioid dependence. Dr. Haysley's service in the United States Air Force also gave him insight into the effects of serious mental illnesses such as post-traumatic stress disorder. The commitment to offering safer, evidence-based alternative treatment furthers Dr. Grell’s foundational mission.
At KYMMC, we believe in the benefits of medical cannabis and will strive to continue helping Kentuckians regain function, manage pain, and improve quality of life through access to medical cannabis. We are proud to offer patients the first step in legal access to medical cannabis.
